Our History

Henry Brothers (Magherafelt) Ltd was founded in 1976 by Jim Henry as a small Construction Company. Under Jimís leadership the Company has grown from humble beginnings to one of Northern Ireland's top 10 Construction Companies. We are also one of Northern Ireland's top 100 Companies and employers and have maintained this position for the past 10 years.

Today the Company has an annual turnover in excess of £80 million, employing around 350 direct employees and hundreds of others indirectly through sub-contracting activities.

Throughout the 1990ís Jim expanded the business with a string of acquisitions, forming subsidiary Companies to complement our construction activities, these companies together with Henry Brothers now form the Henry Group.

Jim is now Chairman of the Henry Group (NI) Ltd which has a turnover in excess of £110 million and employs over 500 people.

Within the Group our manufacturing base includes facilities for steelwork fabrication and erection, cladding manufacturing, concrete product manufacture, bathroom pod manufacture, joinery manufacture, window manufacture, and glass manufacture. Our specialist interior companies manufacture and install blinds, curtains and tracks, and supply and install commercial and industrial flooring.

Jim is highly respected within the wider Construction Industry in Northern Ireland, he is a past board member of CITB from 2001-2004, a past board member of the Construction Employers Federation Council from 2000-2006 and is currently a serving Board Member of CBI Northern Ireland.

In recognition of his services to the Northern Ireland Construction Industry he was awarded the OBE by Her Majesty The Queen in her Birthday Honours List in June 1988 and was awarded the CBE in 1994.

Today Henry Brothers remains a family run business, with offices in Northern Ireland, Scotland and England and is one of Northern Ireland's leading and innovative Construction Companies.
