Henry Brothers Sea's The Exploris Aquarium Refurbished
Henry Brothers completed extensive external and internal work in areas of the Exploris Aquarium, café and gift shop. The work was carried out in three phases within eleven separate areas with a specialist interior and art works design and delivery sub-contractor employed to undertake the extensive theming and exhibits.

Each section within the Aquarium had a unique upgrade with new flooring, walling installation of waterfall fish tank for the reception area. Exhibition areas for “Smugglers Cove”, “Pirates Cave” and the “Seal Hospital” are now displayed with artefacts such as chests, barrels, and palm trees.

The existing shop and café area were refurbished to comply with current regulations and the works included new rubber flooring, new handrails and tread infills to the existing staircases. External works included the removal of the existing balustrade which was replaced with a post and rope arrangement with external landscaping to suit the new arrangement.

Environment Minister Michelle McIlveen visited Exploris and said she was impressed by the ‘high quality attraction it has now become’.

Alliance Strangford MLA Kellie Armstrong commented: ‘Exploris has seen a fantastic refurbishment which showcases Portaferry as a true tourist destination and is an economic boost for the entire Ards peninsula’.
