Significant Milestone for Henry Brothers Midlands
Henry Brothers Midlands are delighted to announce they have completed Phase 1 of a new modernised building for Aldercar High School. The new school for client Derbyshire County Council is the first project delivered by Henry Brothers Midlands regional team.

The new state of the art 3 storey school accommodates specialist food technology teaching rooms, science laboratories and art rooms. Staff and Students belonging to the school are keen to start the new term in a newly built environment, making a positive impact in the students learning experience.

Deputy Cabinet Member for Children's Services Councillor Caitlin Bisknell said:

"We're delighted to officially open Aldercar High School's new building. Despite facing huge financial pressures we're working hard to provide safe, state-of-the-art schools for our young people with the right equipment to help them thrive and learn in a positive environment."

Aldercar students were involved during the construction phase as they completed a number of site visits and some had the opportunity to gain work experience and learn about the variety of careers available within the construction industry.

Work on the project included timber-frame replacement, and a multi-purpose hall with retractable seating as well as lighting and sound equipment so that it can be used for performances. There will also be a separate dining room and kitchen, offices, work preparation areas and staff and student toilets. External facade and drainage work of the building was also carried out.

Aldercar High School's Head Teacher Jon Crone commented:

"From the moment that Henry Brothers Ltd were awarded the contract to build our new school there was a buzz in the community. It is always an exciting time for students when they are getting new buildings but additionally it is an anxious time for staff and Governors. The work has been completed to a very high standard, with their staff extending their working day on numerous occasions to complete those extras that a school always seems to require."

Phase 2 of the build is due to commence in October 2016.
