New student facilities to enhance the Loughborough student experience

PROJECT OVERVIEW:

Delivered in the live university campus, the project consisted of new student facilities in the Towers Hall of Residence to enhance the Loughborough student experience.

Constructed to BREEAM Very Good, the works comprised the design and build of:

Martin Hall Dining & Kitchen: An extension (250-cover dining hall & kitchen) to the west side of Martin Hall adjacent to the theatre and linking through to the existing café facility annex. The kitchen was refurbished and enlarged to include the University’s ‘refresh’ operation that provides the cold food for various locations around the campus.

Towers Common Room: Provision of a new common room at the base of the student accommodation.

Formation of a new pedestrian walkway: The continuation of an interconnecting route through to the design centre as identified as part of the master plan for the area together with all associated external works and landscaping.

Works also included the demolition of the single storey Ann Packer building and the existing two-storey Towers Dining and kitchen facility.
