Founder and Chairman
Jim is the chairman and founder of the Company. Under his direction, Henry Brothers has grown from very humble beginnings, with the same core values that he instilled in the very early days, still very much a part of the company today.
David started working in the company straight after leaving school. He learned the basics of the business on-site, progressing to site management before moving further up the ranks to Director level. He took over the role of Managing Director, from Jim, in 2000. Over the years David has offered his support to the wider construction industry through roles in the CEF, CITB and CBI.
After leaving University, Allen trained as a Chartered Accountant with BDO. He then moved to the Ulster Bank where he was a Senior Manager in Corporate Banking. Allen took on the post of Group Financial Director with Henry Brothers in 2012 and is a qualified Chartered Director.
Alan has 30 years of service with Henry Brothers, having joined the company in 1987 as a Quantity Surveyor. He progressed through the company before rising to his current position of Commercial Director. Alan currently heads up the Estimating, Quantity Surveying and Bid Teams.
Nigel completed education to Higher Level and served his apprenticeship as a plasterer. Having gained knowledge working on-site, Nigel progressed to his current role of Contracts Director. Nigel is charged with looking after the Belfast office, as well as overseeing operations in Scotland.
Ian also joined the family business directly from school. He was based on site for many years, progressing through the ranks to his current position of Contracts Director. Ian is also Managing Director of Windell, a sister company of Henry Brothers, and is the Director of Corporate Responsibility for the Group. Like David, Ian also offers his business experience to wider industry, having enjoyed roles in the CEF and Chamber of Commerce.
After completing formal education, Julie joined the company working initially in the Payroll Department. She has since progressed to the role of HR Director and currently heads up the HR Team, with responsibilities for the growing number of employees within the business.
Non Executive Director
Hazel, a member of the Henry family, started working life as soon as she had left school. She quickly became interested in accounts and progressed through to the role of Company Secretary. Having retired Hazel now sits as a Non Executive Director.
Ian has been with the company for just over 30 years. Having first joined as a Site Engineer back in 1986, he quickly progressed to the role of Contracts Manager, before taking on his current role of Contracts Director. Ian can be responsible for single or multiple projects, depending on the size and scale of the project in question.
David has been with the company since 1987, briefly leaving in 2001/2002 to travel the world. He is qualified to degree level and leads our Health and Safety Department as well as our Environmental and Quality Departments. David received an MBE in 2013 for services to Health and Safety in Northern Ireland.
Harry is one of the company’s longest serving employees with over 40 years’ service, having been with the company since 1976. He started out by working on-site and has progressed to the role of Contracts Director. Harry is responsible for multiple construction sites across the business.
Johnny has been with the company since 1988. He started work as a Contracts Manager but for the past 15 years has been responsible for the company’s planning and programming department, where he is able to use his experience on site to ensure projects are run timely and efficiently.
Paul started out with Henry Brothers as a joiner, back in 1980. He quickly progressed through the company to managerial level and is now a Contracts Director with responsibility for overseeing multiple projects at any one time.
Managing Director, Midlands
Ian started his career as an apprentice bricklayer in 1980. After returning to education, Ian enjoyed roles in John Laing and Mansell before assuming the role of East Midlands Regional Director for Balfour Beatty. Ian joined the Henry Brothers team as Midlands Managing Director in March 2015.
