Achieving a zero-emission fleet by 2040

PROJECT OVERVIEW:

Working with Translink to help achieve their strategy to significantly reduce the impact on air quality by introducing zero emission buses with the aim of a zero-emission fleet by 2040.  Henry Brothers undertook the ZERO Emissions Infrastructure works project at the Translink Milewater Service Station, Short Strand and Newtownabbey sites.

The project entailed the provision of the infrastructure for charging 80 operational EV vehicles at Short Strand and Milewater Service Station and the infrastructure for a Hydrogen refuelling station at Newtownabbey to service 25 vehicles daily.

Works included the upgrade of the Newtownabbey Garage to the required ATEX and hydrogen extraction standards; the construction of new Low Voltage Switch rooms and the upgrading of Low Voltage supplies at each of the 3 sites, complete with all associated building and civil engineering works.
