New-build leading-edge collaborative test facility aiming to sustain innovation and enhance product R&D in advanced materials.
PROJECT OVERVIEW:
Appointed as Principal Contractor and Principal Designer, Henry Brothers delivered this Design and Build scheme to provide a new Advanced Engineering Research and Development Centre, designed to be a collaborative research facility acting as a bridge between industry partners and the University of Lincoln.
Delivered to BREEAM ‘Excellent’, this two-floor 750m2 research and development innovation facility comprised a series of laboratory spaces housing specialist equipment. Key areas of the building include an Electron Microscopy Lab, an ISO 6 standard Clean Room, a Wet Lab, a Dry Lab, and a Materials Lab. The building also encompasses chemical stores, office accommodation, meeting rooms, training spaces, and welfare facilities.
The construction consisted of a steel framed structure, pre-cast concrete floors, and internal partitions, coupled with an external envelope cladding system made up of double-glazed windows and doors and a new roof system.
External works included landscaping, a new car park, and access roads leading onto the existing public highway.
