New state-of-the-art 5,600m² Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths facility

PROJECT OVERVIEW

The design and build of a new 5,600m² Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths facility, comprising of CAD rooms and high-tech laboratories including electrical, engineering, materials, physics and optics, chemistry, synthetics, and bioscience.

A 3D printing suite, design studios, various engineering workshops, large events and flexible ideas factory, office accommodation, break out spaces, a double height fully glazed reception area with a mezzanine area, and catering facility were also provided.

The construction consisted of a three-storey steel framed, split-level building, with precast concrete floors and staircases, brickwork cladding, curtain walling and extensive external works including an external plaza with terraced seating area and steps, staff and disabled parking area, footpaths and walkways, wildflower meadow, lawns and extensive earth and ground works in the provision of a landscaped mound and running track to the rear of the building.

The works also included the full mechanical, electrical and high specification AV installation, lift installation, internal finishes, laboratory furniture fit out, and fume cupboard installation.
