Nottingham Trent University, Engineering Building

Engineering, Teaching and Research Building

PROJECT OVERVIEW:

Situated in the heart of the busy University Clifton campus, the development comprises a variety of engineering, teaching and research spaces together with a large design suite, laboratories, IT suite, offices and amenity facilities.

The impressive Engineering Building is home to the Department of Engineering and features attractive and flexible learning and teaching spaces, provisioned with specialist lab equipment. There are also facilities for commercial research, professional development, and consultancy activity.

The construction consisted of shallow and deep base foundations, a steel frame, pre-cast concrete floors and an external envelope of metal cladding panels and large curtain walling sections. The roof was a hot melt felted system incorporating a large louvered plant enclosure.

Works have been designed and constructed to provide an energy efficient facility, achieving EPC ‘A’ and BREEAM ‘Excellent’ ratings.
