Henry Brothers Midlands has begun work on a £2m project to extend and refurbish premises for LKAB Minerals in Derby.
The scheme involves extensive remodelling of the existing single-storey offices to provide an improved open-plan office area with a new suite of meeting rooms and staff facilities. It also includes the addition of a new passenger lift and staircase to create full disabled access to the first floor, where existing offices and meeting rooms are being refurbished.
Henry Brothers will also construct a new 170m² single-storey office extension along the front of the works building and make alterations to the staff and visitor car park.
Ian Taylor, MD of Henry Brothers Midlands, said: “We are very pleased to have been appointed by LKAB Minerals to help the company improve facilities for its teams. Henry Brothers has wide experience of both refurbishment and new-build schemes, and we look forward to bringing our expertise to this site.”
Working alongside Henry Brothers are employers agent Edge Property Solutions, principal designer CPMG Architects, civil and structural engineer Hexa Consulting, and M&E engineers BEC Consulting.
LKAB Minerals Ltd, a UK subsidiary of a Swedish state-owned parent company, processes minerals for use in a wide range of applications in the construction and manufacturing industries. The processes at the site in Raynesway, Derby, involve the crushing, grinding and grading of mica and similar materials for distribution.
The refurbishment work is expected to be completed later this year.
