Leading construction company, Henry Brothers, has completed construction on a new £13.5 million Driver and Vehicle Agency (DVA) MOT test centre and administrative building at Mallusk.

Providing capacity for 100,000 vehicle tests a year, the state-of-the-art centre, which was delivered on time and within budget, includes a ten-lane testing area, seven ramp-based lanes for light vehicles, two lanes for heavy vehicle testing, and a dedicated bay for motorcycle testing.

The project also has a new internal road network, car parking, and an off-road motorcycle driving test track.

Commenting on its completion, Jody Wilkinson, Managing Director for Northern Ireland and Scotland at Henry Brothers, said:

“Delivered to meet growing demand for vehicle testing, the new DVA MOT test centre has been designed to support high standards of vehicle roadworthiness testing and operational efficiency.

“Future-proofed to respond to evolving industry requirements, the facility demonstrates our continued commitment to high-quality, forward-thinking infrastructure that supports both the public and the wider economy.”

Built on behalf of the Department for Infrastructure, the test centre was announced in November 2024.

It joins a series of new projects for Henry Brothers in Northern Ireland, including the Queen’s-led Advanced Manufacturing and Innovation Centre in Newtownabbey.

Liz Kimmins, Minister for Infrastructure, said:

“The completion of the new Mallusk test centre is an important milestone in strengthening the future of vehicle testing in the North. Henry Brothers has delivered a high-quality facility that will help enhance the availability and quality of our vehicle testing services here.”
